When asked about his future and whether he was traveling to Madrid, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager declined to comment. Shortly after, Marco Silva, the leading candidate to replace Mourinho at Benfica, was also spotted at the same airport. He too refused to address the swirling rumors.
Reporters asked Mourinho, “Are you going to Madrid? Are you leaving Benfica? Where are you going?” Another reporter shouted, “Are you meeting Florentino?” Meanwhile, when approached, Silva was asked, “Good morning, Marco. Are you the top choice to replace Jose Mourinho?
