This follows the team’s semifinal defeat to Lokomotiv in the Gagarin Cup. “A number of Avangard’s leaders are waiting for contract upgrades, so major trades could be on the horizon (laughs),” Sopin stated, as reported by Championat correspondent Lev Lukin.
In the regular season, Avangard topped their division and secured a playoff berth. The club ranked third in the league with 115 goals scored and placed among the top five in goals allowed. During the postseason, they eliminated Neftekhimik (3-1) and CSKA (4-2) before falling in the semifinals.
