The 2026 MotoGP World Championship has officially closed the chapter on the French GP. Following an exciting weekend at the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans, teams are now heading to Barcelona for the sixth round of the season: the Catalunya GP at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The French GP saw Jorge Martin revive his title hopes. After a tough season marred by injury struggles, the rider from San Sebastián de los Reyes has stepped up this year and emerges as a strong contender for the championship. Aprilia’s dominance has placed Marco Bezzecchi at the top, but Martin, his teammate, trails by just one point.

Bad news came for Marc Márquez; after a painful crash during Saturday’s Sprint, the rider from Cervera underwent surgery and will miss the home race in front of his fans. It’s a tough period for the Ducati rider, who now falls further back in the standings with no confirmed return date this season.
The next calendar event is the Catalunya GP, which will once again host the MotoGP World Championship. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is a regular venue on the world motorcycle racing circuit, and anticipation is high to see who will reign supreme on the track following Márquez’s absence.
When is the 2026 MotoGP Catalunya GP?
The 2026 Catalunya GP will take place over the weekend of May 15–17 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. It will be the sixth round of the MotoGP calendar and comes the week after the French GP.

In Spain, the MotoGP World Championship can be followed live on DAZN. The sports streaming platform holds the broadcasting rights for the championship, allowing fans to watch all free practice sessions, qualifying, Sprint, and races for MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 live and on demand. Additionally, all race days will be available free-to-air on Mediaset, which has acquired the broadcast rights.
