Speaking at the Serie A charity gala on the eve of the Coppa Italia final between Inter Milan and Lazio, Marco Materazzi shared his thoughts on Alessandro Bastoni, a player who has faced a turbulent season and been consistently linked with a move to Barcelona.
“What advice would I give him? Stay at Inter, because we all know how much he loves this club,” Materazzi said. “It’s been a difficult and unusual year for him, but Bastoni’s quality is undeniable. Ultimately, the decision is his. If it were me, these choices would be tough, and knowing his character, it’s probably the same for him.”
When asked which of the two finalists had surprised him more, Materazzi replied: “Lazio reaching the final is more unexpected. No offense to Chivu, but objectively, Inter have been the strongest team in recent years, even without winning the Coppa Italia. The team has a coach who is focused on unlocking the full potential of an already strong squad, and they’ve won the league by a huge margin. Chivu has proven that Inter are better than everyone else.”
